Buy Organic Black Beans
Buy premium quality organic black beans quickly and easily. Dried beans with a distinct, earthy flavor – versatile and ideal for a healthy, plant-based diet.
What are organic black beans?
Organic black beans are dried beans with a distinct, earthy flavor. They are similar to brown beans in preparation but are slightly smaller and have a deep black color. The texture is firm and almost meaty, with a mild taste reminiscent of mushrooms. This makes them particularly suitable as a meat substitute in vegetarian and vegan dishes.
Unlike canned beans, they contain no salt or preservatives. You prepare them exactly as you wish.
What do you use them for?
Black beans are popular in Latin American dishes, chilis, and hearty salads. But they also work excellently simply in mashed potatoes or stews. They absorb herbs and spices well, making them versatile in both simple and more elaborate recipes.
Why organic? Grown without pesticides, richer in flavor, and better for the soil. That's why we offer organic products.
Preparation
For newly harvested black beans, soaking is usually not necessary. If the beans are a bit older, it's advisable to soak them beforehand. Ideally, start preparation the evening before cooking.
- Rinse beans thoroughly with cold water
- Place in a large pot and add three times the amount of water
- Soak for at least twelve hours at room temperature
- Drain soaking water and use fresh water for cooking
- Cook beans until tender in forty-five to sixty minutes
Tip: cooked black beans can be easily frozen in portions.
Storage
Dried black beans have a long shelf life. Store them in a well-sealed jar or bag in a cool, dry, and dark place. They will remain good for up to two years. After this time, the skins may become a bit harder. The beans are still usable but will require longer soaking and cooking times.
