What is bean mix
Bean mix is a blend of various dried beans, so you get multiple flavors and textures in one pack. After cooking, the beans are wonderfully soft, but still firm enough for stews and meal salads.
This mix contains the following beans:
- Brown beans
- Black beans
- Kidney beans
- White beans
- Pinto beans
Preparation
Dried beans usually need to be soaked. Here's how to do it best:
- Rinse beans thoroughly with cold water
- Soak in plenty of cold water for 8–12 hours
- Drain and rinse again
- Cook until tender in fresh water (average 45–75 min, depending on the variety)
Tip: Add salt only at the end for the best consistency.
Storage
Dried beans have a long shelf life. Store in a tightly sealed jar or bag in a cool, dry, and dark place. This way, they will remain good for 2 to 5 years and retain their quality and flavor.
